I recently stayed here with my 2 kids ,I requested treated boxes to be in rooms on arrival but they were not there and had to remind them that they were ordered..Altho the hotel is spotless and the rooms lovely and spacious the room itself was cold and eventually got warm as the heating is on a timer ,, I felt the food was way overpriced and we went elsewhere to eat as for breakfast ordered Pancakes for the kids and they were burnt so had to request new 1s which we got ,,the kids enjoyed the pool and it was great to see extra armbands there to use. Overall an OK stay.

2 nights. The Room was spotless and well appointed. One of us is feeling the heat these days, so the in room fan was a welcome addition. Housekeeping staff are among the most friendly, helpful and enthusiastic you'll ever come across. Breakfast was an amazing array oftasty, perfectly prepared, hot and cold options, as with all Maldron hotels. Elisha's friendly, informative and helpful check-in was top notch. John's kindly and discreet assistance at breakfast was much appreciated. The location is perfect for exploring Galway city and surroundings. A1 to Maldron Oranmore. I hope you're so proud of what you do! ????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Hotel was under renovation, staff very friendly, unfortunately the hotel was very cold no heating , we asked twice about heating as our room was freezing, we were told it would come on shorty! But it never did we had to sit with our coats on under the duvet ! Also we were awakened up @2.50 am by someone trying to kick their bedroom door in for a half an hour beside our room had to call reception ????

Very nice hotel and stay. Like every other place good and bad. Good things- fantastic reception staff. Very very helpful and accommodative with your needs. Dinner and breakfast excellent. Rooms and beds very comfort and supplied well. Generally excellent. Few things didn’t like. - even though swimming pool, kids pool and bubble pool are brilliant water was soo cold. Overheard Many guest were saying the same. . We got the stay as a 15 th wedding anniversary gift. In the dining room we ask what’s the deal told us we have dinner for 4 included but during checkout charged us for 2 extra meal as they said our package for only two. Not only that they charged my 10 year old girl for an adult meal. Over all 4 out of 5

Lesley-ann scored 5 / 5 on 11/07/2020

Arrived in a very wet & grey Oranmore unsure what to expect as it's our first time away in these uncertain times. Online check-in was done the previous day so we were greeted very warmly by the staff and the kids treated to an ice-cream! Sanitizing stations dotted all around the hotel and in the lifts too which was great. We had a family room with 2 doubles and a single which felt very comfortable. The QR code in the room gave us access to book dinner & breakfast and swimming. Dinner was served in the bar and was one of the best hotel meals we've experienced. The kids selections were plentiful and portions a great size. Can I thoroughly recccomend the goats cheese salad as a starter which was big enough to be a main - and the battered fish was light & crispy too served with real chips. Excellent value for money. Well done to all the staff throughout the hotel for a very enjoyable stay, especially the bar manager on Tuesday night for the extra attention and the guys who ran the family quiz & movie on Wednesday night. Breakfast was delicious both mornings with lots of choice and the staff were equally as attentive. We'll definitely return when next out West.

Sabrina scored 4 / 5 on 06/07/2020

This was a nice hotel to stay in, very clean, and the swimming pool was spotless. The food was very nice, but the only thing was the coffee and breakfast the following morning was not hot. I am not sure how you would get around this taking into consideration the restrictions in place ie. no buffet breakfast, and the food is served to your table, unless you have those plastic covers over the plates to keep the food warm until they got to the table. Other than that it was lovely, with the staff being the real asset here, so friendly, pleasant and very accommodating.

Globezila scored 4 / 5 on 31/12/2017

Lovely welcome, room fine. Bar staff so friendly, he has worked in bar for years. Dinner lovely. Portions huge. Warm rooms. Towels could be bigger, brighter and newer. Breakfast lovely, busy hotel at breakfast. Fruit only downside Could be better fresh choice. On the plus their coffee is really good and they provide take away cups of coffee if you are rushing. Over all best money we spent, price ratio on break away in a long time. Will stay again.

Maria scored 5 / 5 on 08/07/2017

We had a wonderful time. Breakfast was great pool was lovely.the staff were really nice and accomodating especially the girl who checked us in. She was Mays employee of the month and I can see why. The only drawback was the heat in the room. We had a fan and only for it we wouldn't have slept. It was pity cause the overall experience was really good.

Kid's club was abysmal, briefly - turned up at 8:10 for the 8 o clock movie, met another family leaving as nothing was happening. Games room full of broken toys. No kids club on our last night [should have been told in advance]. So if you want a kid's club go to Breaffy House, they have a fantastic one. Hotel is fine if you don't want a kid's club.

Dehorad scored 2 / 5 on 08/03/2016

Room not very spacious for a family of 4 and radiator not working. Although meal was nice, the restaurant was clearly understaffed and had to wait along tome to be served. Table beside us waited 45mins for a bowl of soup. Overall disappointing stay.

Martin scored 4 / 5 on 08/03/2016

Excellent staff . Very happy with the food and the price . The only issue we had when entering the room there was a smell of smoke it was like someone had smoked in the bathroom other that we had a great stay and would deffintly be going back and will recommend to my family and friends.

Stephen scored 3 / 5 on 01/01/2016

The hotel and Staff were extremely very good and polite. I did not like the setup of the bar it was like having a drink in a cafe. TheStir restaurant served up some beautiful food and we enjoyed eating there. Our room was on the second floor and we could here children running up and down outside our room untill well after 11 o clock on both nights. On our first night when we finally got some sleep we were woken up at 1.15 by somebody banging on a door to be let in. We were very disappointed for our 2 day stay was not the break we planned.

Paul scored 5 / 5 on 22/12/2015

I have stayed many times in the Maldron, Galway and cannot fault it. The staff are courteous and pleasant and the facilities are as you would expect. Our room was spacious and the food is good.

Missk scored 5 / 5 on 09/12/2015

Stayed for one night in November. The hotel exceeded our expectations. The room was clean, plenty of hot water. The food was very good. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful throughout the hotel - reception, dining, leisure centre, bar and porters. Although we didn't have our child with us, the hotel seemed very child friendly. We'll definitely stay again.

Louise scored 4 / 5 on 03/12/2015

Rooms were lovely..decorated nice and very clean.. The temperature in our family room felt alot cooler than the double room across from ours occupied by other family members.. Beds were made every morning and bathtoom cleaned during our 3 night stay which was great. The indoor childrens playroom leaves alot to be desired. Everything in it was broken and i think it would be better not to have this facility at all if it is not going to be supervised/maintained properly. Staff were friendly and breakfast were very nice. We ate in the bar 2 nights which was also very good quality..

Vinjosajo scored 5 / 5 on 24/11/2015

Super weekend break. Jacob on reception was friendly and efficient, room lovely. Bar food superb. Cocktails excellent. Close to galway and we visited the Christmas markets on the Saturday. Sunday was an easy drive to the cliffs of moher. Breakfast - great selection, full irish and continental. A wonderful weekend break for an even more wonderful price.

Elisha scored 3 / 5 on 12/10/2015

Stayed here with my partner and 2yr old daughter. We had an enjoyable stay. Our room was spacious and comfortable. Beds were made every day and clean towels left. Reception staff were very friendly and helpful. The swimming pool was great for our daughter and couldn't fault the changing rooms. However, we were very disappointed with the food, hot breakfast was full of grease, lunch was not enjoyable, so we didn't op to try the dinner. Also felt the restaurant and bar area is very dated and appeals to more business like people than families.

Nd scored 3 / 5 on 16/09/2015

At check in and 3 times during dinner we were advised that voucher (2 courses with tea/coffee) wasn't for 2 courses with tea/coffee but for 18 euro towards dinner,we kept advising that wasn't the offer we had and eventually they ok'd it but they continuously came back to us throughout dinner before that querying it which was frustrating that we kept having to explain. If we hadn't advised I do think the additional cost would have been given to us as a bill after dinner. Dinner was ok,good portions though, however wasn't very hot. Breakfast was good however when breakfast finished, straight away the shutters went down, the housekeeping and kitchen staff came out and started taking the food for themselves and eating it standing up around us. The room itself was good but the heat was stifling. The hotel itself and leisure facilities were very nice, and lots of parking.

We stayed for the 2 night dbb package. The hotel was easy to find checked in fast . Rooms are ok little dated and in need of some care and very basic . A double bed and single but sheets were dirty on single bed staines under thow and looks like candle wax on heater. We went to ring for room service to find phone didnt work so went to bar . Good night sleep but walls are very thin and could hear the old couple making teaand talking at 8 am . Went for breakfast buffet service was ok but eggs were undercooked and bry meats from being under lights . The spa is clean and nice to use staff very friendly . Our night meal when booking 2 courses and tea or coffey. Was given a 18 euros per person for food only , crispy duck salad very dry and not crispy my wings were ok and mains 2 med 10oz sirlions come out burnt and were diped in oil to make them look better were very tough . So we ate what we could and went to sort bill out . I asked the girl just to let the chef know he over cooked the sirloins and if they say 10oz then a 10 oz should be on the plate not 6 oz ( didnt say weight is aprox before cooking ) and for a supplement of 7 euros was wrong. 2 nd night was quiter till 9 am when housekeeping came and a bag of sheets banged our boor . Breakfast was ok 2 nd morning . I belive this hotel is more for a workers hotel rather than a leisure break and will not be here again .

We had a wonderful stay in the Maldron Oranmore. The staff in particular could not have been any nicer or more helpful. Although it's a little outside Galway, with the frequent buses and good value taxi service this wasn't an issue. In fact, Oranmore itself is a lovely place to visit which could be easily over looked. I would highly recommend this hotel particularly for families and those on a budget.

Ann scored 4 / 5 on 21/04/2015

Silver scored 3 / 5 on 20/10/2014

A pleasant hotel with nice clean bathrooms and comfortable beds. The food in the cafe/bar is tasty and plentiful. Some of the cafe/bar staff are not nearly as attentive to the customers as they should be. The swimming pool is 20 mtrs and was not busy. Great for doing lengths. The hotel is quite a long way from the city centre and with the busy traffic allow 30 minutes from hotel to being parked handy for the centre. Parking charges in Galway are extortionate. Easy acees to the Galway/Dublin/Limerick roads. Dreary location if on holiday and you fancy an afterdinner walk.

Mary scored 5 / 5 on 23/09/2014

I really enjoyed mys aty in the maldron hotel on friday 19th and sat 20th sept. It was my first visit to the hotel. The staff were very helpful and polite and mae you feel very welcome and your receptionist was very obliging with our early check in. I would not hesitate and book again and highly recommend your hotel to family and friends.

We really enjoyed out stay at the Maldron Hotel Galway. The staff were efficient and friendly. The food was fantastic and the rooms were perfect. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wanted to be close to the city but not right in the middle of it. It was only a 10 min taxi ride away. The town of Oranmore itself had some great pubs and places to each and is within walking distance of the hotel.

Jason scored 4 / 5 on 01/09/2014

Great hotel with wonderful staff and clean rooms, however the food is awful, at breakfast we were herded through like cattle and some of the food was undercooked. We ate in the bar and I got the chilli pasta it was terrible, really starchy and full of water, the staff we're run off their feet and we saw many people complaining and sending the food back, I couldn't eat mine it was that bad and my wife's wasn't much better. However I would stay again, I just wouldn't eat here

Joe scored 3 / 5 on 20/08/2014

Hotel and facilities itself were great. The food in the restaurant was very basic. There was no restaurant menu available until you actually book your table and arrive for dinner. Prior to making a booking we were given the option of using our dinner voucher in the bar to the value of €18 per person. The bar menu has a much wider range, and I regreted not eating in the bar. The food was ok, but nothing special. However I must state it was a cheap break! So I still feel it was value for money.

Myself, my husband and 2 small kids (2 and 4) stayed in the Maldron for 1 night. We stayed in a family room. We used the leisure centre twice while we were there. It is a really nice hotel with very friendly staff. The ladies in the bar were great and especially understood the needs of two small children. The only thing was that they seemed to be understaffed as there was a lot of delays and had to asked for things on a number of occasions. Would definitely recommend the hotel and we will be back.

Stayed on Friday and Saturday night as a family of 4 - hotel is great, not far from Galway City and handy for Limerick/Clare and the Burren. Facilities were spot on with a great swimming pool, sauna, and steam room plus fitness suite. Room was good apart from a rather flat and uncomfortable pull out bed for the 4th person Staff were very friendly and efficient. Dinner and breakfast were excellent with the waiting staff very well led and knowledgeable - one of us is a coeliac and they catered for her well with gluten free bread and sausages for breakfast and a selection of main courses for dinner Would give the hotel 5 stars apart from the disturbed sleep on both nights - two different parties of ladies, one made up of ladies of an age when they should know better, very selfishly caused a lot of noise in the early hours of both mornings. Nothing was done to control these ladies - not good enough for a hotel that proclaims itself to be family friendly. We would be reluctant to return to this hotel, which is a pity, as the staff and facilities were top class.

We booked the hotel at the last minute. We were not expecting a lot, but we were really impressed with the hotel. From booking in to checking out, everything was smooth. Great room, lovely restaurant and most important of all, lovely staff. We really enjoyed our stay.

We have just returned from our weekend break in the Maldron hotel and I could not recommend it highly enough. My wife and I and two kids stayed for 2 nights . The facilities were excellent and the Kids club was a real treat. If there was one bad thing it would be the breakfast. My wife would always get scrambled egg while away but she found it very tasteless and a bit watery. The fry itself was very greasy and didn't look that healthy. Besides that I would return and recommend it to my friends.

Stayed here for just 1 night with my Husband and 3 kiddies. It is a family hotel, with Cinema, bowling, and kids indoor play area just outside the front door. Our family room was big enough for us all and it included a cot, so plenty of room. The ladies changing room for the pool even has a baby play pen so no juggling! Everything about the hotel and facilities we loved they also had a play ground. The food was only OK unfortunatly but we didn't have to wait long which was also great when you've got kids. So all in all great hotel for a Family Stay

J scored 1 / 5 on 02/01/2014

No, I would NOT return here at all. The whole experience was ridiculous. From the moment we entered the cold room, its shoddy bathroom, we knew this was not going to be the treat we thought it was going to be. The staff were friendly, Jason great, (this is the only reason it got even one star!!), but that’s where it ends. We went to the bar to have a bite & a drink, but it was the most uncomfortable place I have ever been in. We had to move tables so the band could set up, and where we sat had a Gail force wind coming in through the window, so we moved again. Coming up on 11pm and the bar was filled with buggies and young children, we asked is there anyway possible that we could sit in the residents bar, to be told it doesn’t open until 11.30pm. 11.30pm, we made a bee-line for it, only to find all the other kids and buggies had been residing in there. Shortly after 1am, we gave up on a romantic night, children were still running amuck in the residents bar/lounge/matchbox, you could not have a conversation as I could not even hear my husband who sitting next to me. On retuning upstairs, there was more children running riot though the hallways till well after 2pm. I did ask a member of staff earlier, are the children supposed to be in the bar at that hour, he said sorry, that’s the norm here, nothing we can do!!!! I was so upset I wasted so much money on a nightmare night.

We recently stayed in the Maldron hotel in Oranmore, Galway. We enjoyed our stay, lovely hotel, good food, friendly and helpful staff. Our room was very nicely decorated, comfortable and clean. It was very busy in the hotel on the saturday night/sunday morning but service was quick and efficient, would definitely return here again. Thanks to all, keep up the good work!

All was to our satisfaction, comfortable room and good food...although a lot of noise from the room next to us, bedtime for some people dose'nt start until 1 30am!! on mentioning this at reception when checking out next morning we were very courteously treated and our dinner wine the previous evening was credited from our bill...a very generous gesture which we appreciated very much. Would certainly stay again.

We had a lovely stay at the Maldron. The staff was very friendly and helpful especially Claire , one of the waitresses. We had a beautiful meal in the restaurant on Saturday evening and it was very reasonably priced. We then ended our evening with an extremely enjoyable time in the bar. The band "Nite Flite" was playing ,what a brilliant band they are, they played music for young and not so young. The rooms was spotless and spacious. We would definitely recommend this hotel.

I stayed at this hotel from the 30 June for 5 nights and we thoroughly enjoyed it. It is very family friendly, the pool is great as is the games room a big hit with our 3. The kids club in the evening was great as you could drop them in any time and collect them any time our usually went in at 8 or half past to watch the movie and even though my oldest an 8 year old was reluctant to go the first night he was the one asking to go back the rest of the week. The biggest asset of this hotel is the staff every single person we met, was friendly. Helpful and just generally nice. People. It was my sons birthday while we were there and once the waitress was sure he was finished his breakfast she came out wits a cupcake with a candle in it for him, only something small but he was delighted. I would definitely recommend this hotel to families.

Had a wonderful time at the Maldron Hotel Oranmore this june weekend very family orientated and relaxing! Food in the bar was excellent and great value even though we could have dined in the restaurant as we were in an inclusive bb/dinner break. The breakfast was a bit of a let down though even though there was a good choice of cereal fruit etc. the cooked breakfast was not nice my husband was disappointed and he wouldn't be a fussy eater! I asked for two thin boiled eggs on both mornings and after a wait of twenty minutes I had to go up to the counter and ask again after which time i got two cold hard boiled eggs more suited to a salad. The drink in the bar was also outrageously expensive not very affordable in this day and age they could do better but the entertainment was great on the sunday night! Other than that the staff in reception and some of bar staff were great ! Room was great very clean and pleasantly decorated! Overall we enjoyed our stay at this hotel and would return!!!!Thank you!!!!

we arrived to a lovely staff member, very friendly and she promptly upgrades our room as we were a family of 5. our room wasnt ready but we didnt mind. we went to bar and ordered dinner. our children were delighted they got what they ordered and that doesnt always happen. mum and dad had dinner in STIV restaurant, the service was really slow even though they were not busy but the food was lovely. the bar was very busy that night so we could forget that delay in service. the room was great and breakfast was busy but very nice. its a very good priced hotel and standing opposite the cinemaplex, the bowling, restaurant, playcentre and a awalkaway from BUSY BEES children centre makes life very easy for mum and dad. we will be back, no complaints here! i would give it 4 stars if the jacuzzi was working and perhaps a bigger little ones pool!!

Basic but clean hotel across the road from a cinema and bowling alley - though both seemed to be be closed when we were there in mid-March. Rooms were a good size and were clean. The tea/coffee tray was located under the TV unit, not in the most convenient location. Breakfast was included in our rate and it was fairly average. We ate in the bar on two occasions for convenience and again, it was very average. The biggest problem we encountered was with the service. Staff were friendly and helpful - when you could get someone. When we arrived, the reception was unmanned and we had to wait for someone to attend to us. We noticed this happening a few times during our stay to other guests, including others in our party who arrived after us. There was a similar situation in the dining room and the bar, and the cleaning staff did the bare minimum to the rooms during our stay. Our overall impression was of a reasonably priced hotel which appears to be badly understaffed.

I have stayed here before when it was the Quality Hotel which was a few years ago and I loved it so when we arrived I was expecting it to be the same, I have to admit I was a bit gutted. The Lobby is gone very run down and needs major refurbishment, The bar looked well with nice decor and the food is great in the bar, I wasn't impressed with our room either, It was clean but very old fashioned and in need of upgrading also same with the bathroom and it was early January and there was no heating on in our room, it was freezing.. The buffet breakfast wasn't very tasty at all, I always enjoy my Full Irish when away in a hotel and I just had fruit on the second morning because the breakfast was not nice the kids didn't even have the sausages and they love sausages. To be honest the only way I would return would be for a cheap tasty meal in the bar, the food is nicet and the price is great too but I wouldn't stay here again.

this was not the first time nor will it be the last for my Wife, two children and myself to stay at this hotel. I have a boy ten and girl seven , the welcome they got it was out of this world ,they were made to feel really special , the rooms were very clean warm and as my wife says cosy- free play room for the children free use of the lesuire centre - the resteraunt at the hotel serves beautiful food with freindly staff. The breakfast was "brill " as my son said it is the most inportant meal of the day, but at the Maldron it is the only thing you need all day, it keeps you going till evening and he loves his food (not chips) and best of all for me was the price . We were there over halloween they had different party things every night for the children from six to ten , it really was a family break . Already planning the next break. We have stayed at other Maldron Hotels. In our opinion they are tops.

Just returned from a 3 night stay and had a lovely time. The hotel is lovely, warm and cozy. There's a really nice atmosphere, quite relaxed. We were a family of 2 adults and 2 young children - the pool was the highlight of the stay for us. the kiddies pool is perfect (not huge by any means but big enough), a bubble pool that kids can use, jacuzzi, sauna and steam room. the temp of pool was perfect, we were never cold which meant it felt cold getting out of pool tho.... We had a smaller family room as the this is what you get on lidl-breaks deal, unless larger ones available (which they weren't) and it was perfect. It consisted of double, single and sofa bed which was perfect. I haf rung the hotel a few days beforehand to change my daughter from a cot to a bed and the girl I spoke to was lovely. The staff are very friendly and cannot do enough, they have excellent customer service skills (which isn't that common these days) and are a credit to the hotel. Breakfast was lovely, even at busy times you didn't have to wait long for the hot buffet. We dined in both the bar and restaurant and it was nice. It's not fine dining (and I wouldnt expect it from a 3 star hotel) but it was nice, tasty and served with a smile. Kids got crayons and colouring sheets which I thought was a nice touch, although I do think the kids meal is a bit pricey for what it is.. But hey ho they enjoyed it, so if they're happy, we are happy.. All in all, a really lovely stay, thanks Maldron Hotel and Lidl-breaks for another great deal...

Annemarie scored 3 / 5 on 30/10/2012

The hotel was situated a bit further outside the city of Galway than we had anticipated, however, they did have a deal with a local taxi company which kept travel costs down....the room was nice, tidy and quiet. We dined in the resturant for dinner and the morning of our check out for breakfast. I would rate the food as just ok....At dinner I had soup for starters which was just about warm, I had a pasta dish for main course which was served with chips (not cooked through) and the pasta sauce was tasteless....the apple crumble was nice. Breakfast was just ok, the milk on the table didn't smell very fresh and the tea tasted funny as a result. The scrambled egg was watery and tasteless. The hotel was lovely, warm, cosy, staff were helpful but I felt badly let down by the food.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. We started out as a group of 6 but one had to pull out the night before and the Maldron were very accommodating in cancelling her with no extra charge so we all had to just pay pps as initially booked with no one incurring the cost of the cancellation. Rooms were very spacious with a couch and all for extra convenience and beds very comfy. Lovely powerful shower. The only reason I am not giving it a 5 is because the buffet breakfast was not to my liking. Don't get me wrong the range of breads, scones, fruits, cereals, cheeses, juices and yogurt was excellent, however the fried breakfast I fear was all deep fried and a bit over done to be honest. Not to my liking. Overall I was very happy with my experience, would definitely return.

The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful, we were there with 3 year old and 2 infants. The 3 year old enjoyed the toddler pool, can't comment on kids indoor area as it was closed for renovations. The family room was a fine size, clean and cot set up. Breakfast was good and plentiful, no problems getting bottles sterilised or baby food heated. It would have been helpful if there was a fridge (minibar) in the room for baby bottles etc. Would recommend for families.

Great hotel with friendly staff. Ideal for families. Great pool and leisure facilities. It is about 10km from Galway city and is less than 2km from Oranmore which is a lovely village with good pubs and restaurants. We would recommend this hotel and are already planning another trip back.

Food was fine. Room was fine. Bed was extremely uncomfortable and small. You definitely need a car if you stay here. Location good otherwise. Staff very friendly and helpful.

Enjoyed our stay here. Staff were pleasant at reception and in the bar. I didnt use the leisure facilities but i did hear they were quite good, pool is good for the kids. Nice family hotel. Hotel entertainment in the Bar at night was a little poor but overall, we enjoyed our stay

This was an excellent Hotel to stay in. All staff members were very attentive and genuinely friendly. The meal was extremely tasty and there was plenty of food! It was a bit far out of town and taxi’s are expensive but there was plenty on offer in the hotel with a lovely leisure centre and music on weekend nights in the bar. There were lots of television channels so plenty on, Movies, Soaps and Music channels for your teenagers as well as cartoons for the children. There is a cinema out the back of the hotel as well as an entertainment centre. So really there wasn’t much need to leave. Lovely hotel, lovely staff, wonderful food, highly recommended.
