Bedroom was comfortable and clean. Good selection of items for breakfast. Porridge wasn't up to scratch. Waiting staff weren't looking after clearing of tables and there were no teaspoons on tables. When waiting staff were asked for teaspoons they said they didn't have any.

Ruth scored 3 / 5 on 31/01/2023

Reception Staff were courteous to us when we arrived. Bar staff Eoin was nice and courteous very helpful. Thought the hotel was a bit pricey for what we got. Otherwise no complaints whatsoever!! Thx Ruth

Robert scored 3 / 5 on 26/02/2022

It was a nice hotel the staff couldn’t fault them and the reason we booked was so we would get the benefit of the Leisure centre but Unfortunately we where unable to booked as it was all booked up I found it a bit difficult to download the scan code as my phone is not as up to date as I would like so if anyone booking in future they would have to be phone savvy as everything was done online now I sure if I had asked the receptionist she might have help me manage it on my phone but as they say pride before fall

Alex scored 3 / 5 on 22/02/2022

Hotel was quite dated, Room was freezing when we arrived & breakfast was just ok. However; the staff were all lovely & helpful

Bernie scored 5 / 5 on 14/12/2021

All staff were so friendly and helpful. Hotel is in a brilliant location with a bus stop right outside to bring you to the city centre.

Brian scored 4 / 5 on 23/11/2021

Good value for money. Could do with a refresh though. Carpets are showing signs of age, and rooms need some money spent on them. Cleanliness was fine, just time for investment. Food in bar was really good, breakfast was OK, could have been hotter but plenty of selection. I would return.

Nice clean and quiet Hotel. The staff are very professional especially the bistro/ bar staff. The food service in the bistro was very quick, the food was hot when served plus very tasty. The only downside was the covid restrictions.

Super hotel in a good location, spotless clean, comfortable, excellent food, both breakfast and dinner in the restaurant was lovely, bedroom was spacious and clean, beds were really comfortable too, swimming pool was excellent. But best of all was all the staff like every staff member we met was so friendly welcoming and very helpful and we both said it was the best customer service we have received in a hotel in a long time which was both surprising and lovely to receive at the same time. We had a brilliant relaxing 2 night b&b +1 evening meal stay which was great value and would highly recommend the Clayton hotel in Galway to everybody you wont get much better in our opinion and we will most definitely be back again. Thank you to all the staff again. Brian & Lynda

I found this hotel to be very bright and spacious and welcoming. Staff were very nice and efficient. Ideal place to stay on a visit to Galway and surrounding areas, a bus stop outside hotel very convenient and takes you into the city in approx. 15 mins. 2.10 Euro single trip or taxi ride costs approx. 15 Euro. Would recommend this hotel.

Just returned from a 3 night break with this hotel. I have to say it was excellent value for money. We stayed in a family room with two small children and it was huge! Really nice and clean too. The staff in the hotel were all very friendly and accommodating. We had food in the bar a few times and it was really tasty. If i was going to be critical at all i would say that our room was very cold when we got there, however there was a heater in the room and it heated up quickly once that was on. I would definitely recommend this hotel to other families.

Susan scored 5 / 5 on 12/11/2014

Excellent place to stay, would highly recommend it.

Fiok85 scored 5 / 5 on 30/10/2014

Fabulous hotel would stay there again. we stayed late October (bank holiday wkend), and there was a great buzz around the hotel, in the bar / restaurant etc. and thats something you can never guarantee no matter how much you pay! everything was clean , beds were comfy. Nice food and wine. 10 minute drive to the city centre. would definitely recommend.

Caroline scored 5 / 5 on 14/08/2014

This is one of the nicest hotels I have stayed thus far. The staff are friendly and warm and always on hand to every request. The room we stayed in was a family room and was huge with two double beds , dressing area and lovey bathroom. We had a balcony also, which we didn't go out onto as there were some loose wooden boards and a bit dangerous with a four year old (was reported to staff on checkout)On booking our room I had requested a fridge for our daughter for her milk and medicine and upon arrival wasn't there. After two phones calls and about 2 hours wait it finally arrived and made our stay more relaxing as not worrying about how to keep milk cold!!!! The pool was amazing and on both days that we used it it was complete empty (we went about 2pm on both days) and we had the pool to ourselves!!!!! You get towels down in the pool area and armbands, floats it was amazing, you have to wear swim hats so buy them before you go. There is no shallow or deep end the pool is the same dept the length of the pool so bear that in mind with little ones. Breakfast was lovely. Our daughter is a fussy eater and staff were very attentive to her needs, and they even remembered for the next morning what she liked and brought it without being asked which was wonderful. I was celebrating my 40th birthday over our stay and was a little surprised that a little gift or card was not present in our room which is very usual for most hotels that I've stayed in and I've stayed in a lot!!! (my husband did mention this on booking). This personal touch was lacking and kind of let the Clayton down in my opinion. But that was the only thing, this hotel is big and grand with beautiful fixtures and fittings and will be staying here again.

Just back from a stay at the clayton hotel with my husband and five children. We had joining rooms and they were clean and plenty of room. From the moment we arrived the staff were helpful and friendly especially with the five kids. The pool was clean and plenty of clean towels available. Food was great and plenty of variety for all the different age groups. There was a kids club but we did not use it as we were busy doing other activities in Salthill which is only 10 mins drive. We stayed as a couple in may without the kids and enjoyed it so we decided to stay there again when we were in Galway in July with the kids and they really liked it.

Kathleen scored 5 / 5 on 06/07/2014

We have just returned from a 3 night family break in the Clayton and can say we really enjoyed our stay. We checked in with no problems and were given a room on 2nd floor on the wing where swimming pool was as it was great for kids. Our family room was fantastic and was very spacious and spotlessly clean.Beautifull white fluffy towels in a very large bathroom .It was also very quiet and peacefull at night and we slept sound .We had dinner on our 1st night in the bar very reasonable price and an excellent offer for kids menu of dinner dessert and a drink for€8.95 which was great kids loved their meal. Some really excellent dishes on the menu We were served by Daniel and have to say a very polite and friendly young man who engaged in conversation with 2 boys about GAA football and telling them he was from Kerry the home of the Gooch (kerry footballer) really impresssed them.he had no problems gettin them extra jugs of drinks and chatting away to them and did so with all the customers in the bar .Breakfast is also top class with everything you could want on display and if you have any request for poached boiled fried eggs no problem getting them from kitchen.Kids loved the pool and a realy nice young man doin lifegaurd got them some floats and balls to play with and here was also spotlessly clean.we spent our days touring around galway and just outside the main door is a bus 403 runs every 30 min that brings you in to Eyre Square middle of the city €6.20 for a family saves havin to drive in and parking charges The hotel is also close to shopping centre and cinema and there is a dunnes stores, chemis,t and some more shops across road.On our last night we had dinner in the restaurant and again top class food and service Have to thank the maid who was cleaning our room as you can imagine with 2 kids lots of stuff everywhere and when we returned every day she had the room tidy its the little things that gives us mammys a rest that count. We highly recommend this hotel for a break away for all not just familys. As we were checking out on Friday they were gettin ready for a wedding and it looked just amazing .The management of this hotel should be very proud of its staff who all do amazing work and do what the Irish are supposeto do and extend a Cead Mile Failte but unfortunately is not always the case in some hotels .Thanks to all at The Clayton for a most enjoyable& relaxing few days in beautifull Galway

Donal, the receptionist was very helpful, offering to bring our bags to the room on arrival. He agreed to my request to have lunch/es to the value of the 4-course evening meal included in package as we prefer not to eat late. The first day we had two half portions of lunch, valued €7.45 each, and were told we could swap the voucher for that. I was not happy so the waiter called Nora, a manageress, who stated that the deal was "1 evening meal" and that Donal was only there three weeks, in other words he had no right to tell us what he did. When I argued the point, she begrudgingly said we could have one more lunch on the voucher. While the room was big and bright, the huge window did not open and while there was air conditioner, which was not easy to use, my mother who is elderly does not like cold air blowing on her. We asked for over-sheets and blanket as there was only duvet on the beds and we promptly got them. However when the beds were made up the sheets and blanket were taken away so we had to ask again. We also had to request toilet rolls. Madelina, who brought the sheets and blanket, was most helpful in making up beds offering to get anything else we wanted. The hotel was full with bus tours, but the restaurant could not cater for the crowd at breakfast. After asking, and getting, 3 times boiling water and tea it still was not hot, nor was the porridge, which on the first morning after waiting for pot to be refilled, was liquid with a burnt taste. The service in bar was very inefficient, having to ask for salt, cups, milk etc. Overall it was a very disappointing experience.

Just back from this hotel, very nice clean hotel, lovely staff.. We had an interconnecting room which was great as my partners teenage son came with us.. We also had our 8 year old daughter with us... I must say I was very disappointed in d leisure centre there was no kids pool for her and no kids allowed in the bar after 9 pm... Apart from the kids club which ran from 6.30 to 8.45 there wasn't much for her to do... We ate in the restaurant on one night and I must say food was lovely as was breakfast with a great choice of food.. All in all I don't think I would return as a family

I don't have a bad word to say about the Clayton. It was my first time staying there and I will def be returning. I stayed as part of the B&B + dinner deal - the rooms were fab, really clean & comfy. The dinner was lovely, had nice choices. Breakfast was gorgeous, I think it was the best breakfast spread I've ever seen. Staff from reception to bar to restaurant were great, I couldn't fault their friendliness & efficient service. It is a little outside the city but a taxi isn't too bad if you are sharing, it was €15.

The room was lovely - warm, clean, modern. The evening meal was ok, nothing special. Breakfast choice was good and they did have Gluten free bread which was a plus. I think they could improve on the taste of the evening menu though. However it was all very reasonable. Location was good too.

Nice hotel. Bar/bistro staff were friendly, attentive and helpful. Reception staff slightly less so (perhaps just very busy) but not really a problem. Breakfast was good. Bottom line was we got a dinner, bed and breakfast deal for very good value through Lidl Breaks so we were happy customers. One word of caution. Taxis seem to be very expensive in Galway. Not the hotel's fault but it cost us €14 to go into Galway and about the same to get back to the hotel.
